Anxiety Canada has brought in Dr. Angela McHolm Registered Child Clinical Psychologist Selective Mutism Specialist

To conduct:

1) A Primer Workshop on Selective Mutism: Nov 6, 2015, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, (6 CPA credits available)

Recommended Attendees:

This Primer Workshop introduces participants to a multi-prong approach to intervention that focuses on the school, home, and community settings. It is geared toward professionals (such as mental health clinicians, educators, speech-language pathologists) and caregivers. A mixed audience can contribute to rich discussions, small group work, and effectively highlight the importance of a collaborative approach to intervention for children with selective mutism.

2) Selective Mutism: Building Knowledge & Skills: Nov 6, 2015 – 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM

We are excited to announce a new addition to our parent evening! From 8:30-9:30 pm we have added a panel of local experts for a Q&A session focused on accessing local treatment resources.

The panelists are:

Dr. Rosalind Catchpole, R.Psych. Dr. Catchpole received her Ph.D. in child-clinical psychology from SFU. She is a psychologist in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital where she regularly conducts assessment and treatment of selective mutism and other anxiety disorders. Additionally, she is a
clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry at UBC and has a private practice focusing on treatment of anxiety disorders.

Dr. Tamara Salih, MD, FRCPC. Dr. Salih graduated medical school and completed residency in child and adolescent psychiatry at UBC. She works at the BC Children’s Hospital in the mood and anxiety disorders and neuropsychiatry clinics where she provides assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders including selective mutism. She also works on the infant psychiatry team at Richmond Hospital and is a clinical faculty member in the department of psychiatry at UBC. Clinic.

Dr. Annie Simpson, R.Psych. Dr. Simpson received her doctoral degree in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Toronto. She currently has a private practice and specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders in children and youth with a particular focus on treatment of selective mutism. In addition to her private practice, she is a psychologist in the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) team at BC Children’s Hospital.
