Many women develop sufficient ways to cope with fluctuating levels of anxiety over their pregnancy. However, some continue to struggle and become debilitated by chronic anxiety, which can contribute to the development of depression. Many people don’t know that it’s possible to have an anxiety disorder and depression at the same time. For more information on depression during pregnancy and after the birth of a child, see the BC Mental Health and Addiction Services guide, Coping with Depression During Pregnancy and Following the Birth.
