Anxiety Canada is selected as charity of choice for the 3rd Annual Parker Art Salon
Art Exhibit to help raise awareness about anxiety during Mental Health Week

April 25, 2017 – Vancouver, BC – Anxiety Canada™ is pleased to announce that the organization has been selected as the charity of choice for the 3rd Annual Parker Art Salon. Each year, the iconic 98-year old warehouse of the Parker Street Studios is transformed into a weekend-long, salon-style, fine art exhibition. To kick-off the three-day art exhibition, the art studio will host a Friday evening opening soirée where proceeds from ticket sales and the small art exhibit will go to Anxiety Canada.

“We’re pleased to be the charity of choice for the Parker Art Salon,” said Judith Law, Executive Director, Anxiety Canada. “There is a correlation between art and anxiety management, in fact, art therapy can be effective when used with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  Art allows individuals to express their emotions visually, and some studies show that it can also help increase mindfulness and reduce anxiety in the process.  What better way to celebrate Mental Health Week than by coming out and enjoying some fine art while supporting a great cause.”

Unique to Vancouver, the Parker Art Salon will feature over 60 artists – painters, sculptors, and visual artists – who will showcase their art throughout two floors of the 152,000 square feet warehouse. Guests at opening night will have exclusive access to artists, as well as the opportunity to purchase from the small art exhibit which will feature exclusive works from select Parker Street Artists– with all proceeds going to Anxiety Canada.

“Anxiety Canada is a perfect fit for the Parker Art Salon,” said event founder, Niina Chebry. “I don’t know a single artist who hasn’t felt anxious about showing their work.  Our small art exhibit is very popular, and for pieces priced at $200, with partial proceeds going to Anxiety Canada, I’m confident that the paintings will sell very quickly.”

The 3rd Annual Parker Art Salon Opening Soirée will take place on Friday, May 5th between 7pm-10pm. Tickets are $20 which includes an exhibition catalogue and a complimentary beverage. The Paris-inspired exhibition will include live music, food, and a cash bar.
